Dignity Memorial is committed to the community. We are grandparents, aunts, uncles, moms, dads, sons and daughters … we live down your street, or on the next corner. Like you, we want safe communities for our families and friends. Like you, we are grateful to our community's public servants and veterans, who place duty - and our well-being - before themselves. And finally, like you, we care about those in our midst who have been touched with loss and grief.
For these reasons, Dignity Memorial funeral, cremation and cemetery service providers support their communities by sponsoring child and senior safety education, honoring public servants and veterans, and helping those who grieve.

The Dignity Memorial®Vietnam Wall Experience is a traveling, three-quarter-scale replica of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial in Washington, D.C. Dignity Memorial funeral, cremation and cemetery providers created this powerful memorial as a service to those who might never travel to the nation's capital. The exhibit crisscrosses the country every year, allowing millions to see and touch the black, mirror-like surface inscribed with the names of over 58,000 Americans who died or are missing in Vietnam. Honoring all U.S. veterans and dedicated to Vietnam veterans, the faux-granite replica is 240 feet long and eight feet high. Admission is free.
Though locally sponsored by Dignity Memorial providers, each community helps host this meaningful event.

The goal of L.I.F.T.® is to create an atmosphere of comfort and support for those who have experienced the loss of a loved one by reinvesting emotional energy through fellowship, learning and living. We hope to reinforce a sense of wholeness and purpose in those who may be feeling lost and alone by providing an opportunity for improved quality of life through personal involvement and contribution.

L.I.F.T. (Living Information For Today) is a social support program with only one purpose -- to assist the widow or widower in adjusting to the loss of a spouse. Through this encouraging program, people are given opportunity to make new friends with others who perhaps share similar situations and experiences.

Oftentimes, a widowed person feels isolated and alone, believing no one really understands how they feel. Because of this they are commonly reluctant to get involved with new people or unfamiliar organizations. But at L.I.F.T. they are surrounded by people who may share similar situations. In the L.I.F.T program, people gather to share experiences, emotions and smiles.

The program is both entertaining and educational with guest speakers on a variety of interesting subjects. And attendees can feel comfortable knowing that L.I.F.T. program speakers will not be selling anything, only informing.

Best of all, there is no cost to be a part of L.I.F.T. other than for meals or expenses. There are absolutely no membership fees, no dues and no reason not to become involved.

The Dignity Memorial®
Homeless Veterans Burial Program

Every night over 270,000 homeless veterans sleep on the streets. Why? The reasons are many, but downsizing of the military, reductions in educational benefits, physical and mental ailments, and war-related mental illnesses, such as post traumatic stress syndrome, all contribute to the tremendous number of our nation's veterans who are homeless right now.

"A disgrace," says former Secretary of Veterans Affairs, Jesse Brown, "that we have men and women who served in American uniform who are out on the mean streets with no place to go and few prospects for a better life." In addition to the former Secretary, the situation distressed retired Army Maj. Gen. Bill Branson. In a luncheon conversation, Branson and a long-time veterans' advocate agreed that those who served our country and then became homeless had many needs. They are determined to see that these veterans were provided dignified and honorable burials, which were earned through selfless dedication in our country's time of need.

Dignity Memorial funeral, crematory and cemetery providers are honored to administer the Homeless Veterans Funeral Program in selected cities across the nation. In partnership with the Veterans of Foreign Wars, the Veterans Administration, the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, local veterans organizations, medical examiners, coroners, and veterans advocates, Dignity Memorial funeral and cemetery providers help to ensure that eligible veterans receive the honors in death that their service in life merited.

The U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs provides eligible veterans with opening and closing of the gravesite, a grave liner, a headstone or marker, a graveside ceremony and burial in a National Cemetery. Participating Dignity Memorial funeral directors provide transportation, preparation, clothing, and casket.
