George Lawrence Soll, of Scarsdale died on January
12, 2005. Larry was born April 26, 1922 in New York City.
He was a graduate of Peekskill Military Academy in 1940. Larry also
graduated from the University of Pennsylvania’s Wharton School
of Finance, Class of ’44, where he was president of his fraternity,
Pi Lambda Phi. He received his degree in 1947 after returning from
service in World War 11.
He served in the Air Force from 1942 to 1945 and flew 40 missions
in the Pacific Theater as radio operator and top turret gunner,
He was a recipient of the Distinguished Flying Cross and the 5-Oak
Leaf Cluster. He married Arleen Rosenberg December 24, 1949
in New York City.
He
was an executive for Joseph E, Seagram and Sons and later worked
for Monsieur Henri Wines, a division of Pepsico , from which he
retired in 1986 as Vice President and National Sales Manager,
After retirement, he founded Vernon Consulting, of which he was
president,
He
was a big brother with Big Brothers and Big Sisters of New York,
as well as member of its Board of Directors. Also a member of
the Old Guard in White Plains, a volunteer for the (CASA) and
Meals on Wheels,
Son
of the late Dorothy Soll,
He
is survived by his wife of 55 years, Arleen, a daughter, Patricia
of Mendham, New Jersey. Also survived by two grandchildren, Lauren
and Jeremy Holtzman.
A
funeral service will be held at the Riverside Memorial Chapel
on Wednesday at 12 noon.
